In this activity the child reads lists of words.
Printable word lists are available below.

Presentation

  1. Carry the stack of word lists to a mat or table. Place the them in the upper right corner.

  2. Take one of the lists and have the child read each word.

  3. Select another list if the child wants to do more. Continue as long as the child shows interest.

Make Your Own

If making your own lists, keep in ind that this is a good place to include words that are hard to depict with objects or pictures. (and, at, did, fun, had, him, in, it, let, not, on, up, etc.)

  • Printable Word Lists (There are three lists per page. Cut apart on the lines.):
    In the Pink, Blue, Green Reading Series, the first list would be considered pink level words, the other three would be considered blue level words.
    In the Muriel Dwyer Reading Scheme, these would all be grouped together.
