In this activity the child practices identifying objects by touch alone.
Presentation
- Invite the child to the lesson.
- Take the mystery bag to a mat or table.
- Take out one of the objects from the bag and feel it.
- Name the object for the child if they don't know what it is called.
- Give the object to the child to feel.
- Set the object on the mat.
- Repeat with the other objects in the bag until they have all been taken out and placed on the mat.
- Put the objects back into the bag.
- Reach in with both hands and feel one of the objects.
"I feel a ..." and name the object. - Take out the object to show that you were right. Set the object on the mat.
- Repeat until all of the objects have been named and then taken out.
- Put the objects back inside the bag.
- Give the child a turn.
