Use of this material teaches the child visual discrimination of dimension. This activity also helps the child develop his or her pincer grip which is necessary for writing.

Presentation

1. Take the first cylinder block to a table or mat.

Control of Error

Inherent in the Materials (mechanical)
1. Seeing the cylinders that are too tall stick up
2. Seeing those that are too wide no fit
3. Those that are too thin will not fit snugly
4. Those that are too short will not be level
5. At the least, the child will be left with one that does not fit in the end.
