Materials	Blank Multiplication Chart multiplication problem slips number tiles

This material helps the child with memorization of multiplication facts.

Presentation

1. Take the material to a mat.

   

2. Sort the answer tiles into columns.

   

3. Select a problem slip and set it above the chart.

   

4. Think of the answer and find the appropriate answer tile. Set it next to the problem slip.

   

5. Do the finger work to find the spot on the chart for the answer tile.

   

6. Hold your place with your left hand and use your right to get the answer tile.

   

7. Place the answer in its spot on the chart. Place the problem slip to the left of the chart.

   

8. Repeat this process with other problems.

   

9. Continue like this until all of the answer tiles have been placed on the chart.

   

Variations and Extensions

• The work could be done without the problem slips.
  1. Lay out the work on a mat and sort the answer tiles as before.

     

  2. Have the child begin in the top left corner of the chart and fill in the answers one row at at time.
